Environmental, Health, Safety and Social (EHSS) Policy

Purpose of EHSS Policy:

KNEST is committed to conducting its operations of manufacturing aluminum formwork in a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner. The purpose of this EHSS Policy is to protect the health and safety of employees, contractors, customers and community, assure a sustainable supply chain and conducting its operations in an environment friendly manner.

 

Objective of EHSS Policy:

The Policy defines E&S objectives and guides the Company to achieve sound E&S performance in compliance with the applicable local, regional or national legal requirements and E&S reference frameworks. It reflects Company’s commitment to contribute to generating long-term sustainable value, and reduce E&S risks that can be faced by the business.

 

Company’s EHSS Commitment: The Company shall:

 

  • Conduct business operations in accordance to principles of transparency, fairness and integrity and in compliance with local, state, and national EHSS laws and regulatory requirements, good industrial practices, and E&S reference standards[1], as applicable to their operations of manufacturing of aluminum formwork.

  • Evaluate all potential E&S risks and impacts and identify E&S opportunities associated with the Company’s operations and integrate the same in the decision-making process;

  • Implement management systems and procedures that ensure a systematic approach to risk assessment, addressing relevant risks, monitoring and reporting on E&S progress;

  • Evaluate and track the E&S performance including development impacts and ensure continuous improvements in the E&S management for long term sustainable growth;

  • Ensure health and safety of employees, contractual workforce, customers and community and provide assurance on product, process and operations safety (on-site and off-site).

  • Promote and strictly comply with health and safety standards in order to prevent accidents and occupational diseases, and, simultaneously, to help improve people’s physical and mental health;

  • Incorporate the principles which are sustainable and commonly acceptable, of pollution prevention, resource efficiency, energy conservation, optimum use of natural resources, waste minimization and promote reduction of greenhouse gas emissions

  • Encourage sustainable supply chain by building a network of responsible vendors committed to adhering the values and principles consistent to KNEST’s policies on environmental stewardship and social compliance;

  • Abide by human right principles as well as local cultures, customs and values while dealing with the employees, contractors, vendors/suppliers, customers and local community with respect to business;

  • Prohibit all forms of child and forced labour and discrimination, ensuring that all employees and workers have the equal opportunities in terms of employment, career development, remuneration, training, maternity protection and dismissal;

  • Promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) based on sex, race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, nationality, gender identity or social background, and the system of freedom of association in the organization;

  • Ascertain employees receive wages and overtime in accordance with industry or legal national minima, and make sure that all benefits that employees are eligible for are clearly communicated to them;

  • Ensure the right of workers and employees to form and join independent organizations i.e., freedom of association without interference from other and right to collective bargaining;

  • Put in place an organizational structure, defining the roles in the implementation of the EHSS Policy and ESMS and delineate clear roles and responsibilities in accordance with this Policy and make sure that every employee understands their roles and responsibilities to uphold and fulfil the policy;

  • Establish transparent, fair and prompt communication and information disclosure mechanisms and channels to ensure effective stakeholder engagement that enables appropriate decision-making;

  • Implement a systematic communication/grievances reporting, response and monitoring mechanism for all the stakeholders;

  • Encourage employees to take responsibility for implementing EHSS policy, best practices and staying in compliance with all relevant standards by providing them with regular through periodic training programs.
